Vorlesungsbeschreibung
The course, taught in English, provides an introduction to Elementary Particle Physics. The emphasis is placed on experimental aspects, complemented by phenomenological and theoretical considerations. Following a chronological introduction, the development of the Standard Model of particles and interactions is presented. The main topics covered include:
- Quarks and leptons
- Interactions and fields
- Invariance principles and conservation laws
- Quarks in hadrons
- Lepton and quark scattering
- Quark interactions and quantum chromodynamics (QCD)
- Weak interactions
- Electroweak interactions and the Standard Model
- Physics beyond the Standard Model
Exercise sessions complement the lectures.
