Course Description
This course provides an overview of the physics of comets and aims to equip students with the necessary background to study small bodies in our Solar System. These objects are potentially interesting for solar system formation studies.
The course consists of 12-14 lectures covering the following topics:
- Origins
- The nucleus
- Gas emissions
- Dust emissions
- The plasma
- The future of cometary exploration.
The course is based on the Springer textbook "An Introduction to Comets" by Nicolas Thomas.
