Course Description
The specialist course provides an introduction to passive (radiometric) and active (radar) remote sensing techniques for Earth and planetary sciences. It presents the physical background underlying these observations as well as the technical aspects of various ground-based and spaceborne instruments.
Topics include: Microwave radiometers for atmospheric remote sensing, real and synthetic aperture radar systems, scattering mechanisms, meteor radar observations, data retrievals using the optimal estimation technique.
