Course Description
The lecture Planetary Atmospheres covers the following topics:
- Phenomenology and theory of atmospheres
- Temporal evolution of atmospheres
- The different forms of atmospheres in the Solar System
- Atmospheric loss processes
- Formation of ionospheres
- Magnetospheres and their interaction with the solar plasma
- Cometary atmospheres
In addition to the theoretical foundations, observational techniques and selected case studies from Solar System bodies are discussed to illustrate key physical processes governing planetary atmospheres.
Objective: To provide students with a comprehensive physical understanding of the origin, structure, evolution, and plasma interaction of planetary atmospheres across the Solar System. The course prepares students for advanced studies in planetary science, space physics, and atmospheric physics.
