Lecture Description
The lecture Physics I covers the following topics in classical mechanics and thermodynamics:
- Kinematics
- Reference frames
- Dynamics of point particles and rigid bodies
- Mechanical oscillations
- Mechanical waves
- Kinetic theory of gases
- Statistical mechanics
- Laws of thermodynamics
- Phases and phase transitions
- Heat conduction and diffusion
In addition to the theoretical explanations, numerous demonstration experiments are presented and discussed during the lectures.
Objective: To provide a broad and solid foundation in physics. For students majoring or minoring in physics, this lecture forms the basis for more advanced studies in experimental and theoretical physics.
Remarks: We strongly recommend attending the optional Crash Course in Mathematics for Physics I and II as preparation. Further details can be found in the KSL or on ILIAS.
