Course Description

This course complements the Quantum Field Theory lectures and the Theoretical Exercises in preparing the ground for understanding the Standard Model of particle physics and for writing a Master's thesis from a broad spectrum of possibilities, ranging from statistical and condensed matter physics all the way to particle and mathematical physics. The main topics are:

  • Path integral (in quantum mechanics, statistical physics, field theory)
  • Symmetries and group theory (discrete groups, Lie groups, representations)
  • Non-perturbative classical solutions (instantons)
